Laura Thompson, JD
Secretary/Treasurer, Board of Directors
Laura Thompson began her nonprofit journey during high school, college, and law school as a volunteer with organizations dedicated to ending domestic violence, supporting community arts programs, and assisting persons experiencing homelessness. After interning with the International Criminal Court in the Hague, Laura began her professional career as an attorney in Florida, focusing on criminal defense and family law. The injustices Laura saw daily in the legal system led her to join the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) as Vice President of their Central Florida board. During this time Laura also volunteered with Planned Parenthood and began a Masters in Nonprofit Management. As a part of her Masters, Laura interned with the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. She then transitioned to full time nonprofit work as Project Manager and Interim Executive Director for the Jewish Community Foundation of Northeast Florida. Upon moving to Colorado, she began volunteering with organizations such as the ACLU of Colorado, Positive Women’s Network, Parasol Patrol, the American Diabetes Association, AIDS Walk Colorado, and We Are One, Denver. Laura currently works as Program Manager for Boardbound by the Women’s Leadership Foundation, and serves as Secretary for The Village, Ltd.
